Food Programs
Food Programs
At Isabel F. Cox School we believe that healthy eating is a very important factor in student learning and well-being. We encourage and support healthy eating in our school in many ways.
We have several children in our school with severe nut allergies. For their safety, every attempt is made to ensure that products containing nuts do not enter our school. We ask that parents do not send items containing nuts to the school.
Milk Program
Our school has a very active Club Moo program. For $0.60 students may purchase white or chocolate milk at lunch time. Parents may purchase sheets of 10 milk coupons in advance for $6.00. A coupon may be sent with students in place of money to exchange for milk. At noon our milk sellers will deliver fresh milk to the kindergarten and grade one classrooms. Grade two and three students purchase milk at the cooler. Students drinking milk regularly win Club Moo prizes.
Breakfast Program
We have cereal and milk available to any child who has not had breakfast. This is available in the gym at 8:30 am.
Hot Lunch
Once per month our school offers a hot lunch to all students. Our hot lunch coordinator strives to select foods that are nutritious and appealing to students. Thanks to donations from private individuals and business, we are able to offer these lunches at reduced rates and occasionally free.
Snack Program
BP Canada has generously donated money to sponsor our snack program. Several times per month healthy snacks are delivered to the classrooms, free for all children in the school. Snacks vary depending on prices and availability. Some examples are sliced apples with cinnamon and sugar, vegetables and dip, orange wedges, fruit leather, or muffins. We are careful to take known food allergies into account when selecting snacks.
We also have snack and lunch items available in the school for children who are hungry or may have forgotten their lunches.
